Operation Vala Konke continues to pull the plug on criminal activities, and put perpetrators of crime behind bars.
Several suspects were arrested between Tuesday, 27 December 2022 and Wednesday, 28 December 2022 for various crimes across the province ranging from dealing in drugs, dealing in dagga and stock theft.
On Tuesday, 27 December 2022 members of Kimberley Flying Squad pounced on two suspects in Galeshewe, found in possession of eight carcasses of reported stolen sheep.
The suspects were also found with 27 heads of sheep.
The arrest of the suspects came after the police acted on information regarding stolen sheep which were to be delivered and slaughtered at a certain house in Galeshewe.
Two suspects were put behind bars and the vehicle used to transport the sheep was also confiscated.
In a separate incidence, a 31-year-old woman is expected to appear in the Mothibistad Magistrate’s Court soon, on a charge of dealing in dagga. The suspect was found in possession of dagga weighing 1,235g at her house in Seven Miles.
The dagga confiscated is estimated to have a street value of R21 000-00.
The team proceeded to another residence in Diamond View in Mothibistad where they destroyed a dagga plantation.
Another 21-year-old male suspect was apprehended subsequent of being found in possession of mandrax tablets and dagga in Marydale.
On Wednesday, 28 December 2022, the District Commissioner of Pixley Ka Seme led in the fore front together with the new Constables allocated to her District.
They conducted a static road block, vehicle checkpoints, stop and searches and compliance inspections in and around De Aar. During the static road block and vehicle checkpoints, fines were issued to motorists for violating the Road Traffic Act, in terms of driving unroadworthy vehicles, driving without valid driver’s licenses and expired license discs.
Numerous persons were searched during stop and searches, where dangerous weapons were confiscated including sharp objects including knives.
The suspects are expected to appear in various Magistrate’s Courts across the districts. More boots on the ground are yielding great successes as the police are squeezing the space for criminals to operate.
