A case of causing an explosion is being investigated after an ATM was bombed at Sunrise Supermarket, Bush Tshabalala Avenue, Thabong. A manhunt has been launched to trace the suspects.
On the morning of 24 February 2023, at about 03:10, an ATM was blown open by explosives and the machine was extensively damaged.
When members of Thabong responded to the crime scene, two shots were fired in their direction, but nobody was shot or sustained any injuries.
Four men fled the scene.
Members of the Explosive Section were summoned to the scene and the following were found:
Remnants of shock tube starter, brown box tape with a small quantity of explosives, swabs, control samples and the money found at the scene were dye stained.
