The SAPS Springbok Crime Intelligence (CIG) and Stock Theft and Endangered Species (STESU) unit executed an undercover take-down operation and arrested three men for dealing in drugs in Springbok during March and April 2019.
The operation was dubbed as D-Max and involved undercover police agents buying drugs from the three drug dealers in the Springbok area.
Collin Jospeh(34), Jami-Lee Joseph (30) and Fernando Gertze (34) were arrested during September 2020 for dealing in Dagga, Tik and MX tablets.
The trio was sentenced on Friday, 5 May 2023, in the Springbok Magistrate’s Court as follows:
Collin Joseph on 4 counts of dealing in drugs received 5 years’ imprisonment in terms of section 276(1)(i) of Act 51/1977 and a further 10 years’ suspended for 5 years.
Jamie-Lee Joseph and Fernando Gertze both received 5 years’ direct imprisonment in terms of Section 276(1)(i) of Act 51/1977.
The Namakwa District Commander, Brig Schalk Andrews lauded the SAPS team for their hard work, loyalty and assertive detection skills that ensured the incarceration of the suspects.
