Police in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District arrested five suspects on Thursday evening, 11 May 2023, after they robbed a jewellery store in Klerksdorp.
According to information, three armed suspects entered the jewellery store at a complex and pointed the salesperson with a gun.
However, the salesperson managed to escape and the suspects took a variety of jewellery and fled the scene in a white getaway vehicle with two occupants.
Through the assistance of Syntell camera group, the suspects’ vehicle was traced on N12 towards Wolmaransstad.
Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Tactical Response Team (TRT) together with Wolmaransstad police intercepted the vehicle leading to the arrest of the suspects. The police managed to recover the robbed goods.
The suspects, aged between 28 and 41 are expected to appear before the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 15 May 2023, for business robbery.
The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena congratulated all the units who worked together to make sure that the suspects are apprehended.
