Five suspects aged between 22 and 32 will soon appear at Randburg magistrate court facing charges of fraud and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
On 20 July 2023 at about 10:30, police members were patrolling around Kyasands informal settlement when approached by an unknown man who pointed out at a suspicious vehicle that allegedly robbed him in May 2023.
The police then proceeded to stop and searched the identified vehicle with five occupants inside. A 9mm pistol and 4 live rounds were recovered.
Preliminary investigation led the police to a house in Cosmocity where a similar vehicle was also recovered and linked to a Hillbrow case of fraud reported in April 2023.
Police investigation are continuing.
