Concerted efforts by the management of the Western Cape police to deploy forces strategically on the ground ensured that firearms and drugs were confiscated in isolated incidents.

Police members attached to the Anti-Gang Unit followed up on information about a community member in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Wednesday, 30 August 2023. The platoon operationalised the information and tactically approached an address in Merchant Street, Klapmuts. Upon entering the premises they immediately proceeded to search the entire premises upon which they confiscated a revolver with ammunition and drugs. They arrested and detained three males and one female on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition as well as drugs.

In an unrelated intervention police members attached to Maitland Flying Squad responded to a shooting in progress in Ravensmead on Thursday, 31 August 2023 where man(82) was fatally wounded and a 62-year-old man narrowly escaped death.
