The Hawk’s Priority Crime Specialised Investigation team (PCSI) working together with NPA’s Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) secured a forfeiture order amounting to R10 000. Kimberley Magistrate’s Court granted the order after the two units presented a compelling case before the magistrate who issued the order on Tuesday, 05 September 2023.
In 2019, police executed a search and seizure warrant at an identified household in Douglas. During the search, the suspect offered police officials an enticement amounting to R10 000 cash in order not to be arrested. The suspect, (49) Patience Bvunzani was arrested on the spot for corruption and later received a suspended sentence of R5000 on her main case of fraud.
The Provincial Head of Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Major General Stephen Mabuela applauded the team for a job well done.
