Operation Shanela high density operations conducted in crime hotspot areas in the Western Cape yielded success when three suspects were arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as dealing in liquor in Delft and Khayelitsha respectively on Friday evening.
Members of Delft Crime Prevention Unit with the assistance of Law Enforcement were busy with crime combatting operations in N2 Gateway, Delft when they searched a 27-year-old man and found a 9mm pistol in his possession.
In an unrelated intervention members of the Khayelitsha Crime Prevention Unit noticed a suspicious man standing next to a vehicle in Mew Way. Acting on their instinct, the members decided to search him. Upon searching him they found a 9mm pistol with ammunition in his possession.
Meanwhile members of operation Restore searched a premises in Mango Street, Delft South and arrested a 25-year-old female for dealing in liquor without a license when they found liquor on her premises of which she could not produce a license for.
The suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Bellville and Khayelitsha Magistrates’ courts on Monday.
