The police in Gilead are investigating a murder case after a woman’s lifeless body was found at Skrikfontein village on Saturday 21 October 2023 at about 01:00.
According to the information received, a 21-year-old male suspect went to the victim’s residence, and while there, they had a heated argument when the suspect stabbed the victim who happened to be his girlfriend to death with a knife on her upper body and ran to the bush.
The victim was discovered by the mother when she came back from the tavern and screamed for assistance from the neighbours.
The police and ambulance were called upon arrival; they found the victim’s body lying in a pool of blood, with stab wounds and she was certified dead at the scene.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has directed the police to work around the clock to apprehend the suspect involved in this callous act. “I urge the police to do everything in their power to ensure that the perpetrator of this senseless crime is brought to book to face the full might of the law. We cannot allow women to be subjected to inhumane acts especially when we are about to observe the 16 Days of Activism campaign for no violence against women and children,” said Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe.
The police are appealing to the community for information that can assist with the arrest of the murder suspect by contacting the Investigating Officer, Sergeant Selolo Thabo on 072 444 0282, Crime Stop number 0860010111, or the nearest police station, or by sharing information on MySAPS App.
