The Police swift reaction to a tip-off led to the arrest of two suspects aged 27 and 48 for possession of drugs, on Thursday 27 October2023.
The Police Detective received information about a blue VW Polo transporting drugs from Hammanskraal to Bela Bela. While on the lookout the described vehicle with two occupants was spotted at the R101 next to Mckenzi Bridge turnoff, the same day at about 20h00. The vehicle was tactically approached and stopped. During the search, the Police confiscated black plastic bag underneath the driver’s seat with 07 balls of nyaope drugs (each ball containing 100 sachets). The suspects were then arrested for possession of drugs and their vehicle was seized. The estimated value of drugs is R25 000.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the Detective for reacting quickly to the alert and managed to effect an arrest.
The suspects will appear before Bela Bela Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 30 October 2023.
