The SAPS in Malamulele under Vhembe district, are seeking for positive information that may lead to the apprehension of a suspect who allegedly killed a 35-year-old man at Phugwani village while in a separate incident looking for the suspect who robbed a 23-year-old man at Xigalo village. These incidents happened on Saturday, 25 November 2023.
According to information, a 35-year-old man was stabbed and killed with a sharp object by a known suspect. Allegedly, the victim was drinking alcohol with other people, including the suspect at Phugwani village. The victim went to the restroom and the suspect followed, and stabbed him with a sharp object on his upper body.
The Police and Emergency Services personnel were notified. On arrival, the suspect had fled the scene. The victim was certified dead and identified as Fistos Mabasa (35). Police opened a case of murder and activated a manhunt.
Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man was robbed with a firearm while walking from Xigalo village to his home at Jerome village. It is alleged that the suspect pointed him with a firearm and robbed him of a school bag, a cellphone, and other valuable items.
The suspect fired shots before he fled the scene. The victim was not injured.
The victim alerted the police about the incident and they opened a case of robbery with firearm and launched a manhunt.
