A 40-year-old male driver of a white Audi Q7 SUV was arrested on Sunday, 7 January 2024, for traveling at the speed of 225km/h in a 120 zone.
The speedster was caught on the N1 highway near Bela-Bela in Waterberg District. He is scheduled to appear before the Magistrate’s court today, 8 January 2024, on a charge of reckless driving.
This brings the total number of speeding arrests made in the province since the beginning of December 2023 to 19. Breakdown of arrests per district:
•Waterberg: 9 drivers, with the highest clocking 225km/ on a 120-zone
•Capricorn: 8 drivers, with the highest clocking 185km/h on an 80-zone
•Mopani: 2 drivers, with the highest clocking 146km/h on a 60-zone
•Sekhukhune: No arrests
•Vhembe: No arrests
These arrests are testimony to the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety’s commitment to zero tolerance of reckless drivers who endanger other road users….
