Police members attached to Rapid Rail Unit recovered an unlicensed firearm when they conducted a roadblock on N2 near East London this afternoon.
In an effort to reduce unlicensed firearms in our communities, police conducted a roadblock and searched vehicles and persons as part of crime prevention strategy. While they were searching a Polo Vivo they found an unlicensed firearm (9mm Berreta) with the serial number filed off. The 37-year-old male was immediately arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm.
He will appear before the East London Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 15 January 2024.
