Mpumalanga. -A police sergeant (46) attached to Morgenzon police station KDs, the owner of a tavern (42), a female suspect (23) and a Mozambican citizen (39) were arrested on Friday for the alleged possession of unlicensed firearms taken. Another complaint of theft of a firearm was added against the police officer.
According to Brig. Selvy Mohlala was launched an investigation after a firearm of the police station was stolen between December 16 and 17. With the checking of stock was discovered the weapon is gone.
During an investigation, the weapon, a 9 mm pistol, was allegedly stolen by a member at night shift in the KDs. Then the weapon was apparently sold to the tavern owner by the police officer.
A search warrent was obtained and searches at various homes. Several weapons, which are a shotgun, two pistols (one of which was allegedly stolen at Morgenzon police station) and an R5 rifle with ammunition were found and seized.
The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
Mohlala says the Department of Home Affairs will check the status of the Mozambican.
