Q&A.012.WHAT IS …..AGNOSTIC I see no need for an introduction, so let’s go ahead and get started. What is an agnostic?
An agnostic is a person who takes a position of uncertainty toward God and the
Bible. These people have no real convictions, for they know nothing for sure. Most agnostics
have had more education than the rest of us, and they usually have a rather high opinion of
themselves and their “open-mindedness.” In Acts 17:22-23, the Apostle Paul addressed some
agnostics at Athens who had erected an altar to “THE UNKNOWN GOD.” Paul said they were “too superstitious.”
Acts17:22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens,
I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
Acts17:23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription,
TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom, therefore, ye ignorantly worship, he declares I unto you.
Christianity is not a religion of uncertainty. We have an absolute Final Authority with absolute answers. John14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
2Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
1Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
