Parliament has removed two judges from their posts this week.
One retired judge, Nkola Motata, has been removed from his post and will no longer receive benefits. 296 Ministers voted for his removal and one voted against it. 13 Ministers remained out of vote.
Judge President John Hlophe was removed from his post yesterday after 305 ministers voted in favor of his removal. 25 voted against it.
Their removal follows after they are charged with “coarse misconduct”. President Cyril Ramaphosa must now approve the decision to remove the judges.
