A couple from the East Rand was devastated after their six-year-old son was found dead in the boot of their parked Volkswagen Jetta on their small holding in the area of Springs.
THE SIX-YEAR-OLD ENRICO SNYDERS WAS FOUND DEAD IN THE TRUNK
According to reports, it is not clear how little Enrico Snyders ended up in the trunk.
A long-time family friend who acts as a family spokesperson said it seems like it was a tragic freak accident.
Six-year-old Enrico and his mother Marie Snyders Photo: Facebook Esme Strauss said that Enrico last Sunday afternoon asked his mother, Marie Snyders if he could go play outside. Marie agreed.
HE WAS PLAYING OUTSIDE WHEN THE FREAK ACCIDENT HAPPENED
When she later called out for Enrico and he did not answer. His parents then went outside to look for him.
“They couldn’t find him. They looked inside the car to check if he was inside the car. That’s when Enrico’s mom saw a piece of material sticking out of the trunk. They immediately opened the trunk and found Enrico inside.”
IT IS NOT YET CLEAR HOW LITTLE ENRICO ENDED UP IN THE TRUNK
The parents immediately rushed their youngest to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“We don’t know how he got into the trunk,” said Esme.
“I tell everyone that only Enrico and dear Jesus know what happened; because we don’t know.”

Strauss said Enrico’s parents are devastated.
HIS PARENTS ARE DEVASTATED
“They just take it day by day.”
Enrico was a gr. 1-learner at Jan van Riebeeck Primary School in Springs.
“He was just a loving child, full of life. He played and made music. He and his sister made TikTok videos in which they danced. He was just this beautiful boy,”
recalled Esme.
‘ENRICO WAS A LOVING CHILD FULL OF LIFE’
Rene Roux, the spokesperson for Solidarity Helping Hand, told the media the organisation’s Therapy Center is currently assisting the family.
A memorial service was held on Saturday in the AGS Lofoordkerk in Springs for little Enrico.
