Port Elizabeth water crisis too difficult for overpaid councillors to solve – but not the Gift of the Givers
Councillors in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro Municipality get paid a massive R90,000 per month – yet after several years the major parties, the DA and the ANC, cannot fix the water leaks largely through burst pipes – resulting in wastage of about 30% of the daily water consumption. Now the community are in dire straights when it comes to service delivery for fresh water and potentially sewage from the home.
Along come the Gift of the Givers and within days they successfully establish bore holes adding water to supplement the dire water shortage.
I guess something as basic as that is far above the competency or IQs of the councillors making up the major parties in that municipality. The community deserves better.

EAST LONDON is not too dark behind PE. We (those who are paying) are being hit with hefty penalties for water usage as the kl brackets go up. Wastage is a huge issue here. You can report a “fountain” and hours later it is still spewing. Water bubbling out of storm water drains and running down the roads can run for days sometimes. Bottom line…they tell us to use water sparingly and fine us for what they deem excessive but that is obviously to pay for the wastage that they don’t take care of!
