Hierarchical ”Leadership” is the Guillotine of Modern Christianity.
    (Part 2)
It is interesting to see how there were PARALLEL KINGDOMS in operation during the ministry of Jesus. The Jews were eager to attend their feasts and religious celebrations and keeping their Sabbaths, thinking they were serving God perfectly, even taking good care not to ”defile themselves” (John 18:27). Yet WHILE they were eagerly seeking to keep themselves pure and ”devoted to God”, they were planning to get rid of Jesus – their very God and Creator Who came to them in the flesh and whom they now have rejected.
In the Christian faith today, we also see these two opposing kingdoms – one based in the law, which includes institutional laws and modes of operation purporting to serve God, and one that operates by the leading of God’s Spirit. The one (son of the slave woman) persecutes the other (son of the free woman):
    Galatians 4:29 (NLT)
”But you are now being persecuted by those who want you to keep the law, just as Ishmael, the child born by human effort, persecuted Isaac, the child born by the power of the Spirit. ”
Those who are not developed in the ways of being purely Holy Spirit led, or are not continuing to keep in step with the Spirit, will end up using the LETTER of the written code combined with man’s traditions to persecute and even ”get rid of” those who are being Spirit led and are living in the freedom of Christ. These are CYCLES that happen in the Christian faith again and again. Whenever the Pharisee in us is fed and allowed to grow and stands up to assert himself, it creates a CANCEL CULTURE among God’s people, in order to rule over and kill the CHRIST that is manifesting in those believers who are discovering freedom in God’s grace and the Spirit led life.
Thus, many Christians, unknowingly operate in a measure of anti-Christ behavior even though they seek to be FOR Christ. The big problem lies in the fact that they cannot SEE Him clearly as they are blinded. They cannot see Christ in their fellow believers or in His workings. This becomes evident when God’s people persecute their own, who ARE in Christ also, yet are perceived as ”the least” and who are perceived as those not adhering to the anti-christ agendas that has risen within the latest parallel kingdom within Christianity.
You may ask, ”How can this be?” or ”How can God allow this to happen in His church?”. It is the same question we could ask when we say, ”How could the Jews crucify their own Messiah? How could God allow that to happen? – the One whom they read about in their Torah and was foretold about in their Scriptures?” I think it has to do with man’s tendency to usurp the Headship of Christ, and replace Him with his own forms of ”leadership”. Although there is such a thing as ”leadership” for the followers of Jesus, it is very different from worldly style of leadership. In our cycles of power struggle, we grab hold of the ways of Babylon, and seek to take charge of God’s people in order to lord ourselves over His inheritance – thus producing a mixture of the Christian faith and Babylon.
The true Christian faith is always about humbly loving and serving OTHERS to the glory of God, while Babylon is always about serving SELF, in order to make a name for our ourselves. The true GRACE-BASED Christian reality is all about Jesus coming down and making His home inside the believer. The BABYLON-BASED Christian ambition is about building your own tower on the heads of people and ultimately trampling them, turning them into your slaves so that the elite (who are in charge) can reach into Heaven and acquire a special place and fame for themselves.
We find these two parallel kingdom agendas always straining in conflict with each other. Even while Jesus was being crucified, the Jews were CONCERNED about this ”kingdom” that they were devoted to in the name of God. They wanted the bodies removed from the crosses on the day of preparation BEFORE the Sabbath, which was a special day because it fell on Passover. (John 19:31). They were doing ”God’s work”, or so they thought, while they had just KILLED Jesus!
    John 16:2
” … the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God.”
    Matthew 10:17
But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues,
And so, it is the same today, when many churches proceed with ”THE SHOW MUST CARRY ON” while they have just gotten rid of church members whom they no longer deem fit for fellowship – at least not in THEIR fellowship. And it is usually the LEADERS who are building a name for themselves, who are building their Babylonian towers ”for Jesus”, who find themselves holding on to their entitled positions of power and authority , and having no choice but to discard of the least of His brethren (who have insulted their positions) and are no longer following the Babylonian agenda. Those ”church members” are in a sense CRUCIFIED, because, even though they are real brothers and sisters in Christ, they are never again contacted or sought out or brought back into those folds, but are treated as dead.
    John 11:48 (NIV)
”If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.’ ”
There is, however, a good ending to the story – not only of Jesus, but of each follower who faithfully seek His ways at the price of suffering. Just when it seemed like they finally got rid of Jesus, God raised Him from the dead, and He even proceeded to go and minister to the remnant who believed in Him. The same is for us, when we stay faithful to Christ. Although we are counted as dead, we go on living.
    Hebrews 13:12-14
So also Jesus suffered and died outside the city gates to make his people holy by means of his own blood. So let us go out to him, outside the camp, and bear the disgrace he bore.
