Bulk water supplier Rand Water announced an emergency shutdown on Friday (4 November) due to a major burst on the A6 Pipeline, which supplies water from Vereeniging purification works to Zwartkopjes pump station. Joburg Water said in a media statement that the water shutdown would be in effect from 18h00 Friday night and last for about 30 hours.
