Members of the Upington Public Order Police unit intercepted a truck with illicit cigarettes with an estimated street value of more than R250 000 and put three suspects behind bars.
The team acted promptly subsequent to receiving information regarding a truck on the N14 with possible stolen goods. The truck was cornered and pulled over on the N14 on Friday, 16 December 2022.
During the search boxes of illicit cigarettes were found stashed inside the truck.
Three suspects, who are foreign nationals aged between 36 and 45 respectively were arrested and charged for being in possession of illicit cigarettes.
In an unrelated incident, four suspects were pounced on with dagga in Paballelo, in Upington. The suspects were arrested on Friday, 16 December 2022 when members of Crime Intelligence gathered information about alleged drug dealing activities at the premises which was occupied by the suspects.
All suspects are expected to appear in the Upington Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 December 2022.
