Kroonstad detectives arrest suspects for house breaking and theft

Two suspects aged 26 and 32 were arrested and appeared before Kroonstad Magistrate’s Court on 12 January 2022 for house breaking and theft.

The incident occurred on Monday, 9 January 2023, when the victim entered his house and found that it had been broken into. He immediately alerted the police and the scene was visited.

After a few hours the victim left the house locked to do errands however, to his surprise upon return he found that the house had been again broken into for the second time.

Items worth R300 000.00 were stolen from the victims house.

The police were informed and the case was handed over to Kroonstad Detectives for further investigation, a team of detectives immediately acted and followed up on all leads which led to the arrest of the suspects in early hours of Tuesday, 10 January 2023. The members worked tirelessly, leaving no stone unturned and within no time ensured that justice was served.

The duo were arrested at a liquor outlet around town.

Upon further questioning they took the police to the flats where some of the stolen items were being stored and the people who they had already sold the rest to.

They appeared before Kroonstad Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 12 January 2023 on a charge of house breaking and theft. Their case has been postponed to 19 January 2023 for a formal bail application.

Fezile Dabi District Commissioner Major General Moses Makubo applauded the members for their hard work, commitment and dedication towards their work.

“Time is a crucial aspect when tackling crime. It is high time our presence should be felt when these criminals are least expecting it”, concluded Maj Gen Makubo.
