Rape and kidnapping, accused handed 10 life terms plus 50 years

On Friday, 13 January 2023 the Pretoria High Court sentenced 32-year-old Thapelo Billy Dlamini to 10 life imprisonment terms and an additional 50 years in prison on multiple counts of rape and kidnapping.

Dlamini is one of six suspects linked to a series of crime committed around the areas of Orange Farms, Evaton, Sebokeng and Edenpark between 2014 and 2017.

Douglas Guiziman Sithole is already serving a sentence of two life imprisonment terms and an additional 77 years in prison.

The case against Dlamini was assigned to Sergeant Thabo Ernest Twala for further investigation, he is a detective based at the Gauteng Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations (SECI); a special investigation section within the provincial Family Violence, Children Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit.

Twala meticulously pieced all the available leads together which led him to arrest Dlamini in 2019.

Twala’s quality investigation and diligence ensured a water-tight case against the accused in court.
