Hawks disrupt illegal chrome mining activities, Atok village

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation is continuing to deal with the scourge of illegal mining by regularly conducting multidisciplinary sting operations in the Province.

This follows another successful multidisciplinary disruptive operation between the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation, National Intervention Unit, State Security Agency and Samancor Mine at Atok village in Sekhukhune area on 26 January 2023.

Chrome stockpiles with an estimated value of over R250 000-00 were seized. No suspects were arrested.

More disruptive operations are still going to be conducted in the affected areas.
