Police officers stand idly by and look on as power cables are stolen, Boksburg

The FF Plus demands a thorough investigation and decisive action against police officers who failed to act when power cables were stolen in broad daylight in Reiger Park, Boksburg.

Cable theft is at the order of the day and it is the police’s duty to protect government and private property.

Boksburg, which falls under the Ekurhuleni Metro Council, is not only plagued by load shedding, but also by criminals stealing power cables that inconveniences residents even further.

According to available information, the stolen power cables were recovered after additional police members were deployed in the area to apprehend the offenders.

The FF Plus will put pressure on the Police Commissioner, Lt. Gen. Elias Mawela, to thoroughly investigate the unprofessional conduct of officials and to take appropriate action against them.

Such conduct by police officers merely reinforces the public’s perception that the police is unable to protect them or their property against criminals, and that the public is at the mercy of criminals.

It must not be tolerated.
