2 Nabbed with unlicensed firearm, house breaking implements, Roossenekal

The vigilance of police members from Roossenekal Crime Prevention Unit led to the arrest of two suspects aged 32 and 34 for possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and housebreaking implements on the R555 road in the early hours of Friday, 10 February 2023 at about 02:00.

The information at our disposal indicates that Police officers were conducting a stop and search operation when they stopped a Toyota Avanza with three occupants inside.

The occupants attempted to flee the scene however, two suspects were swiftly apprehended by the Police.

One of the suspects who was driving the vehicle was found in possession of a pistol and ammunition. Police also seized suspected house breaking implements that included a hammer, grinder and the get-away vehicle.

The two suspects are expected to appear before Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 February 2023, facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm, ammunition and suspected house breaking implements.

The third suspect managed to evade arrest by fleeing the scene.

Police investigations are continuing and the search for the remaining suspect is still ongoing.
