Concerted efforts by Crime Intelligence and the Worcester Anti-Gang Unit to remove unlicensed firearms from the community led to the arrest of a suspect after they conducted an intelligence driven operation in Pine Valley, Wolseley, on Sunday 19 February 2023.
The members searched an informal dwelling after they received information about a firearm at the premises. The members confiscated a Norinco pistol with ammunition.
The suspect is due to make a court appearance in the Wolseley Magistrates court today.
In an unrelated matter members of the Provincial Extortion Task arrested a 52-year-old male for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in New Rest, Gugulethu on Sunday evening.
The members were busy with stop and search operations in the area when they searched the suspect and found a 9mm pistol with 14 rounds of ammunition in his possession.
The suspect will make a court appearance in the Athlone Magistrates court on Tuesday.
