The Hawks’ Tactical Operations Management Section (TOMS) together with Flying Squad from Pretoria as well as members from Rentrack tracking company swiftly responded to information received about a red Audi A3 that was hijacked in Sunnyside on Saturday, 25 February 20223.
The vehicle was kept in a house at Striga Street, extension three in Doornpoort.
On arrival at the premises the team was greeted with gunfire and two suspects fled across neighbouring houses on foot. Other role players that include the local detectives and Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) were called to the scene.
A search was subsequently conducted at an abandoned house and the team found the A3 Audi that was hijacked in Sunnyside, as well as a blue BMW One Series that was also hijacked last year.
The team also found several firearms that include R1 rifle, two dashprops rifles, three (3) AK 47 rifles, explosives, different types of live ammunition as well as money counting machine.
All exhibits were seized for further exploration to ascertain if they were not linked to other crimes as investigation continues.
