The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered an immediate manhunt for the unknown suspects following the discovery of decomposed body of a 13-year-old girl, Kabelo Malatji inside the house of a 39-year-old man who was in-turn stoned to death by community members at Motlolo village under Driekop policing area on the night of Tuesday 28 March 2023.
The girl reportedly left home on Friday 24 March 2023, intending to attend extra classes at a nearby school but never returned home. An immediate search for the victim was conducted at relatives and surrounding villages without success.
On Monday 27 March 2023, the decomposing body of Kabelo was reportedly found inside the house of the 39-year-old male victim identified as Calbin Mohlala after an unpleasant odour was apparently detected by neighbours who immediately informed the police.
Upon arrival, police forced entry and found a lifeless body of the teenager in a decomposed state and a murder case was opened at Driekop police station.
Afterwards, the members of the community mobilized to locate the man in whose house the body found. He was subsequently found while hiding in the same village and stoned to death last night at about 19:00.
Police were called and on arrival at the scene, they found the victim with severe wounds. He was later declared dead by the members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
