Kenilworth business robbery suspects arrested, CT

The swift response from police members in the Western Cape resulted in the arrest of six suspects in possession of presumed stolen property.

Four unknown armed males entered a business premises in Kenilworth on Tuesday 4 April 2023, posing as potential customers. They threatened the staff and forced them to load valuable items in containers. The suspects fled the scene with the stolen items in an undisclosed direction.

The investigating team pursued the information at their disposal and prepared for a multi-disciplinary operation.

The information was operationalised and they pounced on an address in Zevenwacht on Wednesday 5 April 2023.

Upon arrival at the address, they noticed the vehicle used in the robbery. The occupants were visibly surprised when they saw the police members who immediately searched the premises. They confiscated items stolen during the business robbery and arrested and detained two males aged 27 and 24 on charges of possession of stolen property and business robbery.

In an unrelated intervention police members of Maitland Flying Squad responded to information after a truck loaded with lithium batteries and cables was hijacked in Milnerton on Wednesday 5 April 2023.

They pursued the information about a possible distribution point in Bellville South and drove to an address in Octovale Street. Their suspicion was confirmed when they recovered the load and arrested and detained four males between the ages of 34 and 48 on a charge of possession of presumed stolen property.

Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Wynberg and Bellville Magistrate court’s on the mentioned charges.
