The Edenburg Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly broke into an elderly woman’s house in town, assaulted her and fled.
On 23 April 2023 at about 11:35 in Edenburg, an elderly woman (91) was at home in her bedroom when the unknown suspect entered her room.
The suspect gained entrance to the house by forcefully opening the kitchen door. Without saying anything, he assaulted her and fled the scene.
The victim sustained serious injuries on her head and face.
She was taken to a hospital in Bloemfontein.
Police are investigating a case of housebreaking and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
No arrest has been made yet.
At this stage, it can be confirmed that she was not raped. It is also unclear what was taken from the house.
