Gang violence in Delft – AGU crack down on illegal firearms

Police members of the Anti-Gang-Unit deployed in Delft to quell the ongoing gang violence between the ‘Gorilla’ and ‘Bloodline’ gangs in the area were busy with focus patrols on Friday, 12 May 2023 following up on information.

The police members operationalised the information they have received and pounced on an address in Spitfire Road where a search was conducted. Members confiscated a 9mm pistol with ammunition and arrested and detained a 21-year-old male on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

Meanwhile the members proceeded to Afram Road as they were convinced that firearms with ammunition are stored at an identified address.

Upon arrival they completely surprised the occupants and in the process almost immediately found a male in possession of .38 special revolver with ammunition.

They arrested and detained the male, aged 32, on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The platoon proceeded the mentioned location and searched the entire premises. Their persistence were rewarded when they found a zip gun with ammunition. They arrested and detained a 17-year-old female on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges.
