Dagga dealer nabbed, Jeppes Reef

Jeppes Reef Port of Entry Police task team made a major breakthrough when 4.97 kilograms of dagga was recovered on Sunday 14 May 2023.

The report indicates that the team was conducting normal stop and search at about 18:20 when they made the recovery in the main road, Jeppes Reef.

A 30-year-old suspect was reportedly found with plastic bags containing dagga with estimated street value of R30 903.27.

He is charged with dealing in dagga as well as for contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa and in this regard police are working in partnership with officials from the Department of Home Affairs.

The man is expected to appear in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on Monday 15 May 2023 facing the said charges.

Meanwhile the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela is concerned about drug trafficking in areas adjacent to the country’s boarder line. The General further indicated there are members on the ground to deal with this challenge so that there is no smooth ride for perpetrators thereof.
