Ridding our communities of illegal firearms and ammunition and to bring the perpetrators thereof to book, yielded positive results when members attached to the Anti-Gang Unit arrested two suspects for the possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition in the Bonteheuwel precinct.
On Friday, 9 June 2023, the members proceeded to an identified address where they conducted a search of the premises.
During the search, they found a 20-year-old suspect in possession of a 9mm pistol with serial number removed and eight rounds of ammunition. He was arrested on charges of possession of prohibited firearm and ammunition.
The same team later arrested a 27-year-old suspect after a thorough search was conducted at a premises in Bramble Way, Bonteheuwel. The arrest was made when the members found a 357 Magnum revolver with serial number removed in possession of the suspect. He faces charges related to the possession of a prohibited firearm and the illegal possession of ammunition.
Three suspects aged 15 and 19 were arrested for charges of attempted murder on a Bishop Lavis SAPS case reported in June 2023.
The suspects are all members of a local gang grouping in Bonteheuwel.
All these suspects are due to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges on Monday, 12 June 2023.
