Goods stolen from a truck in Ventersburg, 5 arrested

An off-duty cop arrest five suspects after reacting on a positive information on suspected stolen goods from a truck.

On Wednesday, 12 July 2023, an off duty Constable received information of a suspect in possession of a laptop stolen from a truck at the N1 truck stop in Ventersburg.

The member requested assistance from his colleagues and operationalize the information.

A 42-year-old suspect was arrested and the stolen laptop was found in Mmamahabane.

While on the way to the Police station, a 27-year-old male suspect, identified as the person who sold two laptops to the first suspect, was seen walking on the side of the road and was swiftly arrested.

Further investigations led to the arrest of three more suspects aged 28, 28 and 38-years-old who also took part in the theft out of motor vehicle incident.

Police recovered a chainsaw, glasscutters and a printer allegedly stolen from the trucks.

The property worth an estimated R30 000 was recovered during the investigation.

Five suspects aged between 27 and 42 were arrested for theft out of motor vehicle and possession of suspected stolen goods.

They will appear in the Ventersburg magistrate court soon.
