A devastating, allegedly gas related, explosion under Bree Street at just after 5pm on 19th July 2023 has literally brought traffic in Johannesburg to a stand still. After what happened several months ago in the gas tanker tragedy in South Africa it is quite extraordinary that hours after the explosion people of all ages from children to the elderly were able to walk right up to the collapsed road without any intervention by the police.
