The fight against the scourge of possession and dealing in drugs across the Province to uproot the criminals is extensively reaping the rewards.
This is due to the determination, commitment, diligence and high level of passion displayed by the men and women in blue.
A joint operation was conducted on Thursday, 20 July 2023, at Northam Policing area under Waterberg District by the members of the Thabazimbi Crime Intelligence Unit together with Lephalale and Modimolle Dog Unit’s (K9) in Extension 6 following a tip-off by a source about a foreign National who was dealing in drugs at his rented house.
Police rushed to the vicinity and found a Nigerian National who was requested for his house to be searched. Permission was granted and Police discovered 41 sachets of Crystal-Meth and seven balls of Cat drugs concealed inside the house with an estimated Street value of Thirteen Thousand Rands (R13000-00).
In addition, Police confiscated an amount of R3550.00 in cash from the suspect believed to have been acquired from the illegal activities.
The suspect was immediately apprehended for possession and dealing in drugs worth thousands of rands.
The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe acknowledged the swift reaction by the Police for the apprehension of the suspect. This was done before the distribution of the drugs to the members of the community especially the youth.
The suspect whose age is still to be determined will appear before the Northam Regional Court soon facing charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
Police investigations are continuing.
