Stock theft kingpin arrested in Victoria West

KIMBERLEY- The De Aar and Beaufort West Stock Theft and Endangered Species (STES) Units collaborated their efforts and jointly executed an intelligence driven arrest in Victoria- West on Monday, 31 July 2023.

The teams were investigating cross border stock theft syndicates that are operating between Beaufort -West and Victoria- West.

The 45-year-old male suspect, who is out on parole for the same criminal act was caught red-handed gathering sheep at Kookfontein farm in Victoria-West farming area.

The suspect is detained and will appear in the Victoria West Magistrate Court on Thursday, 10 August 2023 for a formal bail hearing.

The Pixley Ka Seme District Commissioner, Major General Nomana Mtukushe applauded the team for the cooperation and partnership displayed during the investigation and execution of the arrest.

She also  indicated that the theft of livestock have wide social and economic consequences, disruption to the food supply chain and increased tensions between farmers and surrounding communities.
