KIMBERLEY – On Tuesday, 08 August 2023 at around 13:00, Kuruman Highway Patrol and Crime Prevention received information regarding a person who asked for a lift and was possibly carrying a large amount of dagga in his luggage.
The description of the vehicle and suspect was provided and operationalised.
At 15:15 the vehicle fitting the description was spotted along the N14 approaching Kuruman.
At a fuel station, the suspect matching the description exited the vehicle and removed two bags from the boot of the vehicle.
The said vehicle and the other two occupants were searched and nothing illegal was found on them.
At the police station the members opened the bags and found dagga wrapped and concealed in black plastic bags.
The suspect, a foreign national was arrested and dagga with an estimated street value of R 25 800-00 was seized.
The JTG District Commissioner , Major General Johnny Besnaar commended the team for their vigilant response that led to the arrest of the suspect and appreciated and encouraged the community members to keep on working with the police in eradicating the drugs from the communities.
