Swift response by the police leads to the arrest of house robbery suspects

PARKTOWN – Police responded swiftly to information and intercepted the suspects who had just committed a house robbery in Brits, North West Province, on Tuesday, at approximately 17:30. As the police stopped the suspects who were already in Pretoria, the suspects fired shots towards the police and shootout ensued. High-speed chase and shootout continued until the suspects stopped and jumped out of the vehicle and ran on foot. It is then that they were arrested.

Police received a lookout for a Toyota Prado that was taken during the house robbery at Brits. Information received from the tracker company was that the car was traveling at R80 towards Pretoria CBD. Members from Pretoria Flying Squad and Highway Patrol Unit spotted the car at Von Hagen Road and attempted to stop it.

The suspects sped off, leading to a high-speed chase and shootout between the police and the suspects. Four suspects were apprehended after they jumped after the car and ran on foot.

Upon searching the suspects and the vehicle, police recovered firearms, a pistol and rifles, with scores of ammunition. The vehicle and items that were reportedly taken during the house robbery were also recovered.

The suspects will be charged with house robbery, attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen property, amongst other crimes.
