WESTERN CAPE – Efforts to rid our communities of the illegal possession of firearms landed a 25-year-old man behind bars for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition on Monday, 21 August 2023.
Members of the Western Cape Flying Squad, deployed in Manenberg policing precinct to curb the ongoing gang violence in the area, were busy with stop and search operations in the area when they saw a group of people gathering outside a premises. The members accosted them and ensued with a search upon which they found a firearm with ammunition on one of the males. He was arrested and detained.
The suspect will appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ court on Wednesday on the mentioned charges.
