Police members attached to the K9 Unit in the Winelands District went the extra mile on Saturday, 02 September 2023 and arrested two males found in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The members were conducting patrols in Worcester Central Business District in the early hours of Saturday morning when they noticed a suspicious Toyota Corolla. They requested the driver to stop and searched both the vehicle and the driver. They confiscated a 9mm pistol with ammunition and arrested an adult male on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
In an unrelated intervention, K9 members responded to information and tactically approached a premises in T-Flat in Roodewal. Upon entering the area they noticed the suspect who fitted the description, searched him and confiscated a 7.65 Browning pistol with ammunition. They arrested and detained the 29 year old man on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Worcester Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.
