Two male suspects aged 20 and 27 years old appeared before Mankweng Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 27 September 2023 for possession of illicit drugs.
It is reported that members of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit through an intelligence driven operation nabbed a 20-year-old male suspect next to Paledi Shopping Mall.
He was accosted while wandering up the R71 road across University Street in Mankweng on Tuesday 26 September 2023 at around 13:00 during lunch time. The suspect was found in possession of heroine, crystal meth and cocaine to the street value estimated at R3000.
Another arrest of a 27-year-old male suspect was effected on the same day around 15:30 in the afternoon next to the filling station in Mankweng for possession of illicit drugs while roaming around the shopping complex.
The suspect was allegedly found in possession of heroine worth R2000 in street value.
The possibility of dealing in illicit drugs cannot be ruled out since investigations are underway to establish the source and the circumstances surrounding the destination and or the market.
Both Mahlatsi Molapisane (20) and Thuto Leputu (27) were released on bail of the amount of R500 each on their first court appearance and the two cases of unlawful possession of illicit drugs have been postponed to Wednesday 28 November 2023 for further investigations.
The accused are expected to appear before Mankweng Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 28 November 2023 for trial proceedings.
