Gqeberha based Serious Organised Crime Investigation (SOCI) team of the Hawks together with Gqeberha based Priority Crime Serious Investigation (PCSI) re-arrested Alfred Ndinda (52) on 29 September 2023 for the allegations of dealing in drugs.
On 25 December 2016, the Gqeberha base SOCI team of investigators followed up an information pertaining to a large quantity of drugs that were allegedly transported from Gauteng Province to Western Cape. The Eastern Cape SOCI team requested an assistance for the George SOCI team, the reports indicated that the team spotted the vehicle and stopped it. The reports further exposed that the team searched the said vehicle where seventy-five thousand (75) tablets of mandrax were discovered inside the car and those mandrax tablets were seized. The estimated value of mandrax was around R3.7 million. The suspect was then arrested on the scene.
Therefore, Ndinda made his first court appearance before Gqeberha Regional court on 27 December 2016 and was later released on R 200 000 bail. Ndinda made several court appearances, however he absconded all his court trials until his bail was forfeited to the State as he could not adhere to his bail conditions. Moreover, the reports revealed that the warrant of arrest was issued against Ndinda. On 29 September 2023, the investigating team received an information that Ndinda was seen at Maponya mall, Soweto in Gauteng and he was arrested right there on the spot by the investigation team of the Hawks.
The suspect will make his court appearance at George Magistrate’s court on 3 October 2023. The Eastern Cape Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General, Obed Ngwenya applauded the investigating team for the sterling job in re-apprehending the wanted suspect.
