Robber sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment

Wendy Susan Jacobs (43) appeared before the Bloemfontein High Court on Tuesday,03 October 2023, where she pleaded guilty and sentenced to 10 years’ direct imprisonment for business robbery with aggravating circumstances. On 10 May 2022, a group of unknown suspects at the time went to a supermarket in Wepener and pointed guns at the owner. The suspects then took R60 000 cash, beverages and cigarettes as they fled the scene on foot. The police in Wepener were informed of the robbery.

They then followed up the suspects and spotted them in one of the streets in Wepener. Whilst police were tracing the suspects, a shootout ensued between the police and the suspects wherein Constable Kananelo Mokgothu (22) was shot in the neck as well as the upper body and declared deceased on the scene. A case of murder, attempted murder and business robbery with aggravating circumstances was registered and handed over to the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in Bloemfontein culminating to the arrest of Wendy Susan Jacobs (43), William Ndalose (38) and Edward Koto (31).

Meanwhile the trial for murder, attempted murder and business robbery with aggravating circumstances against Ndalose and Koto is ongoing from 02 October 2023 until 20 October 2023 at Bloemfontein High Court.
