Police recover prohibited firearm and hijacked vehicle

Members of the Worcester Crime Prevention Unit were busy with foot patrols in Avian Park on Friday evening when they saw a man fleeing when he saw the police members. The members gave chase and apprehended the suspect and found a firearm in his possession upon searching him. The firearm had no serial number on it. He was arrested and detained for the possession of a prohibited firearm.

He will appear in the Worcester Magistrates’ court on Monday, 09 October 2023 on the mentioned charge.

On Thursday, 05 October 2023, members of Operation Restore deployed in Harare, Khayelitsha were alerted by a tracking company about a hi-jacked vehicle roaming in the Khayelitsha area. The members followed the signal of the vehicle, found and recovered the abandoned vehicle, a Toyota Corolla in Y-section, Site B. The investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
