The Durban based Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation served a 61-year-old man summons on 10 October 2023 to appear in court for fraud and contravening the Customs and Excise Act.
It is alleged that since July 2022, the businessman misdeclared goods that were imported on 40 containers, prejudicing the South African Revenue Services (SARS) of more than R6, 5 million.
The suspect was instructed to appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on 24 October 2023.
