Efforts to rid our streets from the illegal possession and distribution of drugs and firearms yielded success when members arrested two men for possession of an unlicensed firearm and drugs yesterday, 16 October 2023.
Members attached to the Lingelethu West SAPS followed up on information of a person at Town Two in possession of a firearm. The members accosted and apprehended the suspect who was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm without a serial number. The suspect faces a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm.
Once charged, the suspect will make his first appearance in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court.
In a separate incident on 16 October 2023 at about 17:30 members received information of drugs at a premises in Albertus Court, Steenberg. The members operationalised the information and upon arrival at the premises they ensued with a search during which they discovered 89 units of tik. One suspect was arrested for the illicit possession of drugs. The suspect will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court once charged.
