On Monday 16 October 2023, Hawks members from Pietermaritzburg Serious Organised Crime Investigation working together with Umgungundlovu District and Crime Intelligence arrested two suspects aged 34 and 44 for dealing in drugs at Scottville area in Pietermaritzburg.
Members received information about drugs that were going to be dropped off in the area and a joint operation was conducted then the members proceeded to Scottville. Observations were made and the suspects were spotted in the parking lot exchanging drugs. They were apprehended and a further search was conducted in the suspects’ vehicles. Heroin capsules and mandrax tablets to the street value of approximately R185 200.00 were found.
The 34-year-old was also found in possession of unlicensed firearm with rounds of ammunition. They were both placed under arrest and charged accordingly. They are expected to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court today, 17 October 2023.
The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona welcomed the arrest and applauded the members for the good work.
