The trio arrested in Bethlehem for alleged cable theft at a railway line station by local security guards on 12 October 2023, are to remain behind bars after they made their first appearance in Bethlehem Magistrate Court on Monday, 16 October 2023.
It is alleged that security was at the Eureka Railway line when they spotted the three suspects removing infrastructure. They were all arrested and handed over to police at Bethlehem police station. The security found and seized a rusty spade, chisel and undercoax a meter of copper cable.
The three suspects were charged and appeared before the Bethlehem Magistrate Court on Monday, 16 October 2023 facing charges of theft of copper cable.
The accused persons, Ditaba Motaung (30), Thabiso Motaung (26) and Pusetso Motlatsi (18) were remanded in custody until 25 October 2023 for further investigations and formal bail application.
